We know that the YOUR best friend just might have some buddies of his own! So, we offer a Best Friend's Partner Training Program for your dog and up to 3 other dogs. 

The best results are for all dogs to be  within the same learning curve or level. For example - all puppies, or all older dogs.  

The way the partner plan works is simple.  Just book your trainings at the same time and same location and each dog  will receive a reduced rate for the training - plus the added fun and socialization of a group class!  But the best part is that you can practice together and walk together and everyone can help reinforce each other's progress.

Dog Rescue and Shelters Information

The best dogs can come from shelters and rescues.

Shelters and rescues have all kinds of dogs, of all ages, available to join your family. Starting with an adult dog is exactly right for many families, but is especially useful for families with young children. A dog that is mature is less likely to treat the child as a sibling. That means less nipping, and usually less bumping, jumping up and other very physical behavior. If your work situation is such that you would have to leave a puppy home alone for eight hours or more you will gain nothing by starting with a puppy. An adult dog is a much better choice.

The most available dogs are "teenage" dogs - between six months and 24 months For the most part there is nothing wrong with these dogs, there were just in home that didn't match their needs. It might be, however, that they wouldn't have met your needs in your home either. The main difference is that with these older dogs you have a better chance of learning that before taking the dog home. Even if you want a puppy chances are if you are patient one will get turned into the shelter or rescue, especially the more popular large breeds e.g. German Shepherd, Labrador Retriever, Doberman etc.

A GOOD shelter or rescue evaluation can really do a good job of matching dog to owner. Here are some books to read to learn more about shelter and rescue dogs.

Phone Consultations

We know that many dog owners sometimes need a little guidance for problems that don't fit into a training program or a time schedule.  That is why we offer phone consultations.  These are scheduled phone calls, that give you the opportunity to ask for solutions and help over the phone, based on your schedule.  

What kinds of questions are usually asked?

Most of the questions that are asked are about potty training. Followed by nuisance behaviors such as barking, jumping and digging.  We also get asked about purchasing a new pet, dogs and kids, and feeding and nutrition.

How long are the phone consultations?  

Most phone consultations are 10 - 20 minutes in length.

Is there a charge for phone consultations?

Current and past clients receive free phone consultations for one year.  After that they are $1 per minute with a 10 minute minimum. 

Non clients are also able to receive phone consultations for $25 for a 10 minute call. 

How can I schedule and pay for a phone consultation?

Just drop us an email or leave us a message with your name phone number and best time to reach you.  All phone consultations must be prepaid - we accept credit cards via paypal.com or checks and money orders via snail mail.
